Your muscles are either working for you or against you. There is no in between.
Muscle is not just about how you look. It’s a metabolic tissue. It’s active. It determines your metabolism, how you feel, how you move, and how your body functions every single day. It’s also what keeps you moving. Without it, everything breaks down.
But here’s what most people don’t realize. Your muscles are naturally lazy. They don’t want to be active. They will do the bare minimum to get you through your day, your workout, and nothing more. That’s why after a certain time doing a workout program you don’t feel challenged anymore. Your muscles know the movements and will coast through.
Your Muscles Adapt to Your Life
This is the part nobody talks about. Your body is constantly adapting to whatever you do most. And for most people, that’s sitting.
If you sit at a desk and use a computer all day, your body adapts to that position. Your shoulders roll forward in front of your chest. You develop C posture. Your glutes fall asleep because they’re not being used. And if your glutes get lazy enough, your quads start doing their job, leading to knee pain and often times injury.
We see it time and time again. Someone who is in the gym 2-3 days per week training and they still get hurt making a routine movement. That’s because most people aren’t challenging their muscles effectively.
Muscles Need to Be Challenged to Stay On
Your muscles have to be stimulated or they shut down. It’s that simple. They need to be told, “hey, you’re still needed.” It’s like a wifi signal. Your brain needs to reconnect to the muscle in question in order for pain to subside and for performance to be unlocked.
The real problem is that not all strength training is equal. Strength training is more than just lifting weights. It’s about being methodical and understanding how the body is designed and the science of what turns the signal back on.
Researchers Lindsey and Adam Lepley published a study in Sports Health that showed exactly this. Concentric exercise, the lifting part, relies on spinal-reflexive mechanisms. It’s basically your body on autopilot. But eccentric exercise, the lowering part, activates the motor cortex at a significantly higher level. Your brain has to engage. It has to reconnect to the muscle. That’s the wifi signal turning back on.
Their research also found that traditional concentric-focused programs fail to restore neuromuscular control. The brain-muscle connection stays broken. Eccentric exercise is the one that actually rewires it. That is why our training is so good for post-PT rehab, strength, and performance. You’re teaching your brain to have dominance over your muscles again.
Why Axxiom Is the Best Strength Training
We’re not focused on lifting weights at Axxiom. We are focused on stimulating the brain-muscle connection.
The Kineo is one of the best devices for strength training. Think of a bench press. Closest to your chest, you’re the weakest. In the middle of the range, you’re moderately strong. At the top, you’re the strongest. You’re also much stronger on the way down (eccentric). The Kineo exploits the body’s design to challenge you both ways and is far more effective than any other training on the market.
The Real Risk
You’re going to age. It’s well documented that we start losing muscle after 30, about 3-8% per decade. At 50 it accelerates to 12-15% per decade. And every decade after that compounds. By your 80s, you can lose up to 50% of your muscle mass if you haven’t been doing something about it.
But you can combat that in one efficient session per week.
The real risk is not doing something and waiting until you have a life event that forces you into a healthier lifestyle or gym routine. Get ahead of it today.
The InBody Connection
At Axxiom, we don’t guess. We measure. The InBody 970 shows us exactly where your muscle is, how it’s distributed, whether it’s balanced, and how it changes over time. We can see if your left side is weaker than your right. We can see if you’re losing muscle mass. We can see if what you’re doing is actually working.
That’s the difference between training and hoping. We track it. We measure it. And we adjust based on real data. Your muscles don’t lie, and neither does the InBody.
The Bottom Line
Muscle is the foundation of everything. It drives your metabolism, protects your joints, keeps you moving, and determines how capable your body is at any age. But it has to be challenged to stay active. Without that challenge, it shuts down. And once it shuts down, everything else follows.
The good news is, it only takes once per week to keep it on. That’s why we built Axxiom around strength. Not because it’s trendy. Because it’s the most important thing you can do for your body.
